Mike Grubbs is the charming, funny and wildly talented founder of Wakey Wakey, a Brooklyn-based band at the heart of the anti-indie rock movement. As Grubbs tells it, his lack of athletic ability as a child meant he would focus on sight-reading music and the piano, French horn, clarinet, violin and autoharp of his childhood home. Cut to adulthood, Grubbs didn't have formal training in songwriting - a fact that let creativity and experimentation soar.
