Liner Notes

Nobody ever feels the same way. The confluence of influences and instigation leads to everyone's personal digestion of themselves and everyone else entirely unique. There are those who are able to function while compacting all of these slights and glitches, pretending like they're hardly noticeable or that they give off any kind of a tightness or tickle. Then there are others who are roused at all hours by their uncanny senses and a thin skin that allows everything to pass. In the same song that the title of this essay is borrowed from, the two men in the Michigan-based group Dads -- John Bradley and Scott Scharinger -- offer us up the thought, "I need something new to obsess over," and it's one of those specific pleas that, while bordering on being a disorder, is understandable. Damned if we don't need our distractions and hell if there are some of us who just can never accomplish being distracted. Dads music involves little filtering. These are issues being rolled and worked out, mostly in real time. The obsession is there and it's vivid. It's unmovable and rarely casual. It's this immersion that can feel like drowning and can feel like a release.
