To call Woody Guthrie an Americana music pioneer doesn't quite cover the magnitude of his contribution to American music history. He composed timeless music telling american folk stories, travelled cross-country performing live throughout his career. His best known song is "This Land Is Your Land." He inspired Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Joe Strummer and many more. He passed in 1967, but his widow had a recording of Guthries on copper wire, which was restored into a 2007 record produced in part by New York's The Magic Shop, the same people who restore much of Wolfgang's Vault's most precious and precarious recordings. The rescue and release of that recording earned those involved a sound engineering Grammy award.
