Formed in 1990 in a fit of activism, Red Thunder booms a message of dignity among the people: Native Americans. Led by Robbie Romero, the band blends contemporary rock elements with its own spiritual compositions. An activist, Romero worked for several years with Dennis Banks of the American Indian Movement. He found music a pathway for getting his message out and in 1990 performed with Red Thunder for a huge Earth Day crowd in Washington, D.C. Red Thunders' first release was a self-titled EP with five tracks. In '95, tracks were included in a full length album, Makoce Wakan, which sold more than 50,000 copies alone in states boasting a large Native American population.
