If you were given the task of compiling a list of songs expressing endless devotion or telling tales of true love, late-60's San Francisco might not be the first place you'd look. Luckily, that isn't what I set out to do. Instead, this collection presents love songs played during the golden age of psychedelia, when the music was generally intended to make your head trip and your feet dance. Since free love seemed to be an uncontrollable side effect of the music itself, regardless of the lyrical content, this mix should give you twice the spark.
Some songs here speak directly to that Golden Gate spirit. These folks may have been inspiring, and possibly participating in, the free love lifestyle, but they still knew how to tell someone 'I love you now and will forever.'
One thing remains certain: if you're significant other has never, or is unwilling to, get a nice buzz going and listen to some far out tunes like these, it probably just isn't meant to be.
