Liner Notes

Earlier this evening, one of the countless Sex and the City re-runs were on the cable box and it immediately prompted me to get off (really on, just with a computer in the lap) my duff and finally post this most riotous of readings from New York's The Walkmen, who are as responsible for the defining contemporary sound of the city as Sarah Jessica Parker and her constant monologue-ing about troublesome guy problems were the defining soundtrack for womanly overthinking and fashion craziness in that very same city. The sad lives of Carrie, Miranda, Samantha and Charlotte are given a makeover as Hamilton Leithauser and the rest of the band talk about a Big-a-thon, chuckle through protective cup jokes and remark about DKNY and all of the other petty dramas that the show was bogged down with for six seasons. It's material and what we're considering the first legitimate new material the band has released since 2006's cool and crazy production of Lennon and Nilsson's Pussy Cats. They're out with our bros The Subjects, who will be checking in with text and video posts from the road when the tour starts on Saturday.
