Liner Notes

"Cheese days I seem to think a lot of all the things I left off my pie," sing The Pizza Underground. It is the only band of its kind. It's an honest parody band, rewriting the songs of The Velvet Underground -- replacing key words with those that elicit pizza thoughts, pizza dreams. This gang of pie pushers might be coming to the material as smart asses, but the desire and ability to play full sets of songs in the same tomato paste-filled vein seems to suggest that the preposterous concept is being taken seriously. They really DO love pizza and The Velvet Underground this much. It's often ramshackle and mudded in, but the band -- led by Macauley Culkin, Matt Colbourn, Phoebe Kreutz, Deenah Vollmer, Austin Kilham and an assorted cast of fellow pizza freaks -- finds a way to make these stoned little absurdities endearing and, in the case of "Sticking To You," kinda sweet.
