Liner Notes

Many of the songs that The Menzingers write give us a good look at houses after parties and streets after parades, where there's a lot less to look forward to. The houses all smell like dead beer and there's probably a little vomit in the sink or in the trashcan. The streets are covered with paper, crushed peppermint circles and melted Tootsie Rolls. There are probably some horse turds and piss trailing down the centerline as well. Everyone's gone, back to normal, and left the scene of something that used to be better. The band from Scranton, Pennsylvania, reminds us that, "Happiness is just a moment," and there are few better times to think about such a thought as after a party or a parade, following a beautiful night or a wake-up call. It's when a love has fizzled or the doubts have sunk their claws in when we're caught up in believing that we're now lacking something that once was. We go on, for we must."Good Times" is a song that puts all of these feelings in frame:"I've having a horrible timePulling myself togetherI've been closing my eyes to findThe old, familiar failuresI've been having a horrible timePulling myself togetherI've been closing my eyes to findWhy all good things should fall apartWhy all good things should fall apartWhy all good things should fall apartWhy all good things should fall apart."
