Liner Notes

See Through Dresses makes dream-rock that rolls around your ears like an open bag of marbles. It's the sound of the world expanding and the echoes of the questions that follow it. Sometimes the band has more in common with punk than it does with shoegaze, though the long history of shoegaze is still present in the music. One of the biggest places this band differs from others in their genre is the singing: the songs are more lyrical, the vocals are mixed to be clearer, and the singing is just straight away better than a lot of shoegaze bands. The songwriting is patient, an aspect that is greatly appreciated by the listener. Each song is intricate and visionary, as in nothing feels accidental, but rather the execution of a whole vision. Another place this band differs from other shoegaze or dream-rock bands is in the nuance of the songs: there are moments that build like post-rock and resolve in a cinematic climax, like something that plays at the end of a movie as the big questions resolve into a human understanding.
