When it's good, sometimes it's great, if only because it's so unexpected. These are the love stories that Sami Akbari - or sami.the.great - likes to surround herself with. She's absolutely willing to suspend all of the experiences to the contrary that she's ever had in her life. She's willing to mentally rip out all of the unfortunate pages from her heart and she's able to just believe that there is sweetness to be had. She believes that sweetness will come and get her if she just keeps the promise of it close to her. The songs that she writes aren't fantasies, but more these tales of willing it into existence.

It's like the saying, "Good things happen to good people," but applied here, it just stands that good love comes to those who believe that there is good to be had in love. She seems to believe that love might be blind, but that doesn't last forever. That fog can burn off after so long and everything gets a little clearer, with Akbari standing there with a big grin on her face.

She was in on the secret the whole time. Her music harkens to old-time pop and soul songs - those that the Supremes and the Temptations wrote, those that are in over the moon about that tender touch and the pretty batting of eyes, of entendres and innuendos. They're songs that are polite and heavy on a sense of chivalry, updated to fit modern times, perhaps. There is such a need for feeling arms embracing and for feeling wanted and needed.

The songs themselves seem like they could stoke fires - starting a pile of chopped wood in the chimney into a blaze - with a simple look. She sings, "If you let me in/I will/Change all the parts of my heart/Turning it into whatever you wanted/So that you will carry it in your arms/I could never do you harm/I don't want anybody but you/I want to be your only fool/So, I will wait for you/My love." It's right there, waiting, patient that it's all going to wind up exactly as she's been dreaming, with just a few curveballs along the way.
