Liner Notes

"Brother Roland," from Seattle band Pickwick's album, "Can't Talk Medicine," is the kind of song that makes you do that thing with your face and your neck -- when you think that no one's looking -- where you're feeling it. You listen to it over and over again so that you can nail it, on your own time, in your car, somewhere you feel safe. You do that thing where you're trying to hit all the soulful notes that lead singer Galen Disston hits. The veins in your neck are bulging, you're sure of it. Your eyes are squeezed tightly shut and you're full bodying this mother. You're letting it all out. You've been done wrong. Things have gone murky. You're not going to stand for it any longer. You're going to war. You're becoming a man. You're sure that the trap's been set and you're going to find it. There will be different facial expressions then.
