Liner Notes

One of the pillars of bluegrass music, Mac Wiseman is still a beautiful light in the dark. He's the voice of the prevailing power of a mother's prayerful tones. He's steeped with an understanding of sin and the dark, sweet smoke of the trains. He's a godfather of the hidden valleys and the people who call them home. It was famously said that, "Mac Wiseman sings like Gene Vincent looks, and looks like Ernest Tubb sings," but it's more like Mac Wiseman sings the way the tobacco grows, from the beautiful dirt up to the heavy sky. He convinces you of the afterlife whether you want to believe it or not. We share half the hymnal with him and we sing achingly with him, feeling the many colors of the stained glass windows strike flat against our skin.
