There's no winning it all. There's winning some and that's about all you can hope for. You'll take the loose change and that's it. You should be happy with what little jangling you have in your pockets. There are going to be more participation ribbons than there ever will be trophies and jackpots. There are going to be more tails between legs than there will be waggings. Even if it only rains occasionally - sporadically at best - when it does, we like to convince ourselves that it's been happening too much lately, or with a greater frequency than it used to. We know that we're full of it, but we're willing to drive it home, to not just plant the seeds, but to coax the roots in such a thought

The lives that are detailed in Jetta's songs are fading into the black, but they're trying to drag their feet as they're heading in that direction. They're fighting the pulls. They're raging against what sometimes feels so inevitable. They're bucking, throwing their muscles around and cocking their eyes wildly. They're yanking against the chains and the ropes tying them to their trees. They're throwing thunder and lightning around, trying to cook up a rebirth, or a renewal, something that feels like new light. These folks exist as those who are having the hardest time finding their paradises. They are seeking whatever might be closest. They're determined, as much as they can force themselves to be, but Jetta gives them something more. The former back-up singer for Cee Lo Green and Paloma Faith empowers her characters with the kind of bullish want and grit that Pink and Kelly Clarkson give their characters. These are people who will claw and toil just as long as they can manage. They shall persevere against all of the many odds.
