If you're one of the lucky ones who think they've found that someone that they're going to be with the rest of their lives, Findlay Brown has a soft spot for you. The British singer and songwriter sings directly to those who really have found that genuine love connection, not just the one that's still mostly fling - the magnetism of pretty people with a few things in common and some relatively smooth conversation. His songs are for the invested, for those who couldn't feel more grateful than they do. He sings of being blessed in sunlight and people making "themselves up with hives of gold." It doesn't even matter where that's going to lead us - to the occasional welt, perhaps. All that matters is that it feels triumphant, even when it hurts, or when old age or disease comes knocking.
With, "If I Could Do It Again," Brown's written a song that sounds made of unfortunate circumstances that are going to bring a happy union to an end, but there's hope.
