Liner Notes

The way the sentiments in Chappo songs work is by being brutally instinctual. They are just what come out. They weren't planned. They are unexpected. They're blurts that slip up everyone. They involve people seeing other people, catching eyes, making eyes, letting a tongue wag out of a mouth, a heart beating abnormally. These are people who get swept up in what's just been presented to them. They might want it or they might not want it.

Alex Chappo, the chief songwriter of this Brooklyn, New York, quartet sings, "It's just better raw," and it tends to be the overarching mantra of Chappo. They build their songs around these very of the moment, right this second comments and observations, coupling them up with classic rock bombast and spacey psychedelia to boot. It's a mélange of all sorts of weird inspirations and disciplines that perfectly expresses how fucked up we all get sometimes.
