Liner Notes

For some people, you need to say a lot. You need to type a bunch of stuff down and you need to try to build up this entire thing around them, to explain them, to give them the context that will fit them. Sometimes it's just fun to do that, to keep talking and talking (or writing and writing) until it all just sounds good to you, rambling out like a leaky faucet.

Brick + Mortar lead singer Brandon Asraf has this way about him that makes us feel like we should just give him his space. He's got it all under as much control as is available to a man, even when everything's feeling a bit iffy. Time is love and it's all something of a scramble in these anthemic songs by the band from Tom's River, New Jersey.

These are songs that are steeped in bone-rattling emotions, in the feeling that you get when you sense that you're getting overwhelmed completely by everything in front of you and you've decided that you're just going to walk directly in to the fire. You're going to take your chances and see how bad it could possibly get. You're willing to just deal with it all head-on. After all, as Asraf sings, "The strongest thing I ever felt was feelings for you." There's nothing that's going to top that, even when it's all toppling over, slashing a knife across the belly of the heavens. It's all going to sort itself out, one way or another.
