Dorm room comrades from Chico State joined together in 1991 to form the Mother Hips and built a following for their soulful West Coast sound through constant touring and a word-of-mouth accolades. Touring with big draws like Johnny Cash and Wilco, the Hips gained their own devotees for their band-of-yesteryear sound, a signature they developed more successfully than many of their contemporaries.
