Eddie and the Tide

Very little is know about Eddie & The Tide except the band had a huge club draw in the Santa Cruz, California area during the mid-1980s, and they had a singer, whose real name was Steve Rice, that was clearly a vocal clone of America's favorite son, Bruce Springsteen. Not unlike John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band, Eddie & The Tide jumped on the '80s-styled Springsteen bandwagon, complete with black leather jackets and songs about city kids who just needed to rock.

After releasing a couple of successful indie records, the band was signed by Atco Records (a division of Atlantic). That association landed the group a spot on the soundtrack to the popular teen vampire film, The Lost Boys, which starred Kiefer Sutherland. Eddie & The Tide stayed together until the late-1980s, when they disbanded after being dropped by Atco. Rice is supposedly working on a comeback solo album.
