Dave Van Ronk

With his bawdy, gruff, yet tender singing style and considerable musical skills, Dave Van Ronk became one of the most respected members of New York's early sixties folk boom. He formed various blues bands and became a close friend of Bob Dylan, who frequently stayed at Van Ronk's Greenwich Village apartment. Though he's never been a commercial success, he remains influential in folk circles as a performer, historian and teacher.
