Belle & Sebastian

Whimsical indie pop band Belle and Sebastian is a seven-piece Scottish delight. Taking the name from a French children's television series about a boy and his big white dog, Belle and Sebastian is as sweet as one would suspect. The group emerged from nowhere in 1996 quickly, and a little mysteriously selling out of its thousand copies of debut album, Tigermilk. Led by guitarist/vocalist Stuart Murdoch, Belle and Sebastian has a sound both melodic and majestic with traces of folk-rock and '60s pop and belongs in record collections boasting a see-though sensibility. Whether sad, happy, or just plain smooth, Belle and Sebastian makes pleasant music for moods of all types.
