Barbra with two-a's is a modern chanteuse whose rich vocals are perfectly suited to both Broadway belts and intimate supper club songs. Streisand began a singer, moved to Broadway and then turned to film as actor, producer, writer and director. Undaunted by the changes in popular music wrought by late '60s rock, she covered Laura Nyro's "Stoney End" from "More Than a New Discovery" and went on to other solo, duet and composition successes. By 1976 and 'Evergreen,' Streisand's albums were a cinch to sell a million copies and she's achieved Billboard #1 status in each of the four decades since she began her career. Although she eschews live performance, Streisand has been known to perform in person for favorite political causes and figures.
