Talk about an impressive resume. British-born Aynsley Dunbar is one of those musicians that, while the average person may not know his name, his drumming has kept countless rock stars in rhythm for decades. As an integral member of multiple collaborations, both live and for studio sessions, he's worked with performers like John Mayall's Bluesbreakers, Jeff Beck, Frank Zappa and the Mothers, Flo and Eddie, Lou Reed, Sammy Hagar, Pat Travers, David Bowie, and his own blues-rock band, the Aynsley Dunbar Retaliation, whose song "Warning" was covered by Black Sabbath on their debut album. Dunbar was almost the drummer for the Jimi Hendrix Experience until a coin flip won Mitch Mitchell the coveted spot. The 80's were kind to Dunbar too, with membership in successful bands Journey, Jefferson Starship, and Whitesnake, and today sees him returning to some of his more bluesy roots.
