Aaron Neville is the third of the four famous Neville Brothers of New Orleans. His prisoner-style face tattoo and daunting physical stature somehow fade away as soon as he bleats out the most unlikely and unique, high-pitched voice that achieves total vocal refinement. He broke into mainstream music in 1967 with soulful ballad "Tell It Like It Is," a minor splash with arguably more soul that his later recordings, as he struggled over the next 10 years to make it in the industry. He found his place in the adult contemporary market with '90s hit "Don't Know Much," his Grammy-winning duet with Linda Ronstadt.
