British band The Mindbenders headline this concert. Wilson's design, a visual pun on the band's name, hints at the music's effect on the cerebellum.

Our vintage concert postcards commemorate shows from Fillmore East, Fillmore West, Winterland and Avalon Ballroom.

Print Variations

The postcard was first printed with the post-concert 2nd printing of the poster. It measures 4 1/2" x 7 1/16".

The subsequent 3rd printing postcard (see BG016) has a chartreuse image like the 1st and 3rd printings of the poster. It omits the "Wes Wilson" credit, measures 4 15/16" x 7 1/16" and was also printed after the concert.

About Wes Wilson

When the Avalon Ballroom and Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium began to hold weekly dance concerts, Wilson was called upon to design the posters. He created psychedelic posters from February 1966 to May 1967, when disputes over money severed his connection with Graham. Wilson pioneered the psychedelic rock poster. Intended for a particular audience, "one that was tuned in to the psychedelic experience," his art, and especially the exaggerated freehand lettering, emerged from Wilson's own involvement with that experience and the psychedelic art of light shows.
