The pre-concert 1st printing A (see FD007) is black ink on white vellum. The union logo 72 appears in the lower left corner. It measures 14" x 20".
The pre-concert 1st printing B (see FD007-B) also bears the union logo 72 and measures 14" x 20" but has green "Euphoria" lettering and performer names and a green background area where Avalon Ballroom and the date information are placed.
The 2nd printing (see FD007-2) bears a "7(2)" notation to the right of the union logo and adds "(c) Family Dog '66 Exclusive Franchise distributor Lorin Gillette P.O. Box 15125 SF 94115. Ph 863-7122 Printed by Double-H Press" along the bottom margin. This printing adds coral coloring to the "Euphoria" letters and around the figure in the center. It measures 14" x 20" and was printed after the concert.
The 3rd printing adds the notation "7-3" in the lower right hand corner and omits the union logo and Lorin Gillette credit. In the bottom left corner is "(c) Family Dog Productions, 1725 Washington Street, San Francisco". The "Euphoria" lettering and design behind the figure in the middle are green. It measures 14 1/4" x 20 1/2" and was also printed after the concert.
When the Avalon Ballroom and Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium began to hold weekly dance concerts, Wilson was called upon to design the posters. He created psychedelic posters from February 1966 to May 1967, when disputes over money severed his connection with Graham. Wilson pioneered the psychedelic rock poster. Intended for a particular audience, "one that was tuned in to the psychedelic experience," his art, and especially the exaggerated freehand lettering, emerged from Wilson's own involvement with that experience and the psychedelic art of light shows.
