Hell-bent on taking care of business, Bill Graham closed the Fillmore West while the last notes were still echoing in the Fillmore East from its own closing a week prior. Citing disillusionment with the current state of the music industry as the reason behind his actions, Graham treated his audience to a week-long farewell highlighted by performances by some of the most popular bands around. He was so serious about the supreme line-up that he and former Charlatans member, Michael Wilhelm, got into a heated fight when Graham wouldn't let the latter's new band on the billing. The fight, punctuated by a plethora of 4 letter words, was captured on the documentary film that captured the symbolic event.
Our vintage concert programs feature performances from the Fillmore, Fillmore East, Winterland, the Avalon Ballroom and more.
