New Orleans native Davell Crawford is a pianist known, in fact, as The Piano Prince of New Orleans. A prodigy, he tells us he first played professionally at the age of 8! He is the grandson of James "Sugarboy" Crawford, composer of "Iko Iko (Jock-a-mo)" and a pioneer of the New Orleans R&B scene in the 1950s, a relation that means Davell was raised surrounded by great music. He is a musical force to be reckoned with in his own right: a performance career with great early success, then taking a break to teach music and artistic expression to children of all ages in his beloved New Orleans. In the wake of Katrina, Davell reignited his passion and calling as a performer, taking to the road with his powerful and soulful vocals and versatile musicianship on a wide range of instruments.
