Bill Graham's early productions always offered the audience more than musical entertainment. Lenny Bruce's appearance here was daring, although more pathetic than powerful, and is memorable because it was his last performance before he died.

Our vintage concert postcards commemorate shows from Fillmore East, Fillmore West, Winterland and Avalon Ballroom.

Print Variations

The postcard was first printed after the concert with the 2nd printing of the poster. It is differentiated by the porous rough paper stock it was printed on. It measures 5 1/16" x 8".

The 3rd printing A is on smooth plated stock and is the smallest of the postcards, measuring 5 1/16" x 7 1/2". It was also printed after the concert.

The 3rd printing B is also on smooth plated stock, but measures 5 1/16" x 8". It was also printed after the concert.

About Wes Wilson

When the Avalon Ballroom and Bill Graham's Fillmore Auditorium began to hold weekly dance concerts, Wilson was called upon to design the posters. He created psychedelic posters from February 1966 to May 1967, when disputes over money severed his connection with Graham. Wilson pioneered the psychedelic rock poster. Intended for a particular audience, "one that was tuned in to the psychedelic experience," his art, and especially the exaggerated freehand lettering, emerged from Wilson's own involvement with that experience and the psychedelic art of light shows.
