Liner Notes

Music that reminds you of snakebites, kicks to the groin and stiff drinks is good to have around. It's easy to live in a world where there's a Starbucks on every other corner, where you can mostly forget that there are shitloads of wars and revolts happening everywhere, that there are god awful things being perpetuated every second, where there is real evil and shitty people in powerful positions and where no one's looking out for you but yourself. It's good to be jarred completely out of our heads and sleepy hearts, to have our clothes ripped off of our bodies by music that exists for the sole purpose of trying to reorganize and maybe punish a disobedient world. It's good to feel like you might have a fighting chance to defeat the demons and the ills that have doubled down on you, hovering over your head like a well-fed crow. It's good to believe that a little disfigurement - delivering a fat lip - could make some things better.

Leeds band Pulled Apart By Horses are a band that reminds us of such things. They let their ire get the better of them. They let is gush out and splatter against the cold, hard ground so that others won't be able to avoid it. They'll just have to step in it, get it on their shoes, smell it, wonder how it came to be there. They make venomous brutal music that's all about kicking the hornets nest and not running from the pissed off occupants, but scrapping with them, drawing them out into the alley and, not necessarily trying to see who's tougher, just seeing who's going to be standing longer, who's gonna last.
